Le Fraghe

“I grow grapes and make wine in Cavaion Veronese, in the heart of the Bardolino production zone.  My first harvest was in 1984.  Even as a young child I remember hearing the conversations about vines and wine, and I can recall those Octobers, when we went right from school to harvesting the grapes.  This world, marked by the changing of the seasons, has always fascinated me, and the desire slowly grew in me to become part of it, to contribute to it, to learn how to listen to the vineyard and to the land, to bring forth from them my own wines.”

Ròdon Bardolino Chiaretto

  • Varietal: Corvina, Rondinella

  • Appellation: Bardolino DOC

  • Soil Type & Elevation: Morainic soils; 190 meters elevation

  • Vine Age: 12 year old vines

  • Harvest: Mid-September

  • Winemaking: The two grape varieties, Corvina and Rondinella, are vinified separately. They are given a cool-temperature, 6-8 hour maceration on the skins, which extracts just enough colour to give a lively, medium-bodied hue to the juice. The must then ferments at a cool 17°C. The finished wine matures on the fine lees in 50hl stainless steel tanks until the following spring, when it is bottled.

Le Fraghe Bardolino

  • Varietal: Corvina, Rondinella

  • Appellation: Bardolino DOC

  • Soil Type & Elevation: 190 meters

  • Vine Age: 12 year old vines

  • Harvest:

  • Winemaking: The two grape varieties, Corvina and Rondinella, are vinified separately. The maceration lasts some 7-8 days, and coincides with the fermentation period. The cap is managed daily, with a délestage in the morning and a pumpover in the evening. After the wine is drawn off, it goes through malolactic fermentation, which usually occurs in the following month, then the wine goes to stainless steel tanks, where it rests until spring, when it is bottled.

  • Varietal: Corvina, Rondinella

  • Appellation: Bardolino Classico DOC

  • Soil Type & Elevation: 190 meters

  • Vine Age: 15 year old vines

  • Harvsest:

  • Winemaking: The two grapes, Corvina and Rondinella, are vinified separately. Maceration lasts on average 7-8 days, i.e. not beyond the end of the alcoholic fermentation. Délestage is carried out every morning and the wine is pumped over the cap every evening. Once devatted, the wine undergoes a complete malolactic fermentation, which usually takes place within the next month. The wine is then placed in 40 hectoliter wooden vats for about 8 months.
